Make An Investment...Make A Difference!
You can support the crucial work of Communities In Schools in many different ways. If you want to get involved and make a difference in the life of a young person, here are a few suggestions:
Make an investment of time by mentoring or tutoring a student.
You'll be surprised at what a difference just one hour per week can make in the life of a young person. Research indicates that students who are mentored are less likely to get involved with alcohol and other drugs, delinquent activities, or violence. We also seek to connect tutors with students who are having academic difficulties, particularly in the subject areas of reading and mathematics.
Make an investment of talent by sharing your skills.
Perhaps you can volunteer as a guest speaker in a classroom, sharing your knowledge and skills with students who may be interested in your career or your hobbies. Maybe you can open the doors of your business to young people who want job shadowing or internship experiences. Whatever the setting, you have information from which students can benefit. Won't you share a part of your world with them?
Make an investment of treasure by supporting CIS financially.
You may want to join the 365 Club and support CIS operations for just $1.00 per day. If you prefer, you may designate a contribution to support a specific project, such as our CIS Classrooms, or for a specific purpose, such as the Take Stock In Children Scholarship Fund. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed under law, and it helps us continue to provide a consistent, caring presence in the lives of young people who desperately need what CIS and its associated projects are offering -- hope for a bright future, along with the skills they need to succeed.
For more information on how to get involved in any of these meaningful ways, please contact the CIS office at 904.321.2000 or e-mail us at
